Marriage becomes a sacred and precious moment for someone. The union of two hearts in the sacred cord of marriage is the first step in building a household. Examining the phenomenon of globalization in the wrapper of modernization, our society is now beginning to be familiar with the term singlehood.
Referring to the Merriam-Webster definition, singlehood is a single state and does not yet have the desire to get married. In other words singlehood refers to someone who chooses to postpone marriage or not even marry for various reasons. Singlehood has the view that soulmate discovery is not a form of coercion but a long process.
Freedom is easier to obtain
Singlehood means building the life they want. They usually go through very productive days such as sports, taking care of themselves, paying attention to nutritional intake, and extra work. A singlehood also maintains his relationship with friends or family.
Not only that, the human side to volunteer is also more prominent. Being single helps one learn the meaning of sympathy and care deeply for others.
Factors thought to be a strong trigger singlehood
Talking about the triggering factors singlehood there are many factors that are interrelated. According to Experts (2007) complex factors that cause women to choose single are the level of education, job opportunities, career aspirations, and certain family circumstances.
In another part, modernization is thought to strongly influence the perception of marriage through four indicators. These indicators are gender equality, shifting personal values, the impact of technology, and new acceptance in marriage.
